Out of a pool of 500 Native American and white inmates a South Dakota study found 48 percent of Native Americans compared with 28 percent of whites have less than a high school education. 34 percent of Indians versus 56 percent of whites were employed full or part time and Native Americans are more likely to commit violent crimes.
