Republican with ties to racist groups in Georgia DA runoff

A one-time follower of white supremacist J.B. Stoner who once expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler has forced an Aug. 10 runoff election for the top prosecutor's job in an eastern Georgia judicial circuit. Craig Fraser, who says he has apologized for his anti-Semitic writings of the past, led 16-year district attorney Ralph Walke in the July 20 Democratic primary for the prosecutor's job. Fraser had 42 percent of the vote; Walke had 31 percent. A runoff was required because a third candidate prevented either of them from winning a majority in the primary. There is no Republican candidate in November.[more]
