Haitian police officer who fought against rebels abducted
A police officer who was part of a unit who fought against rebels earlier this year has been missing for two weeks after being abducted outside Haiti's capital, officials said yesterday. Septembre Luckner was a policeman in the Caribbean country's Central Plateau region. He was one of a few officers who elected to fight rebels seeking to oust President Jean-Bertrand Aristide in February, said Michael Lucius, head of Haiti's judicial police. Luckner was abducted August 9 in the town of Carrefour Shada, which is near Port-au-Prince, Lucius said. Two witnesses told authorities that men wearing the uniforms of Haiti's disbanded military abducted him. Lucius could not provide further details.
