HATE Proposition 200 to cause racial fiasco
/Proposition 200, Protect Arizona Now, will mandate that American citizens prove they are such when they go about their daily lives. The theory is that those who cannot prove their citizenship will be prevented from exercising such rights as the vote and such privileges as medical care and social services. This may seem a fine theory, but it is a racial fiasco in the making. How often will someone of my racial profile, northern European descent, male, with Midwestern accent, be asked to prove my U.S. citizenship? And how often will Native Americans or Mexican Americans with or without an accent be subjected to this harassment? The majority of us will never feel this proposition's effects of racial reclassification of American citizens. That is why I call it the "Arizona for White People Now" proposition and urge all of my fellow citizens to reject it at the polls. - Bradley Peterson [more
