Black Woman Shot Twice After Leading Westerville Police On Chase
/Police shot and wounded a woman who they said led officers on a
high-speed, wrong-way chase on Interstate 71 on Sunday night. Police
initially tried to pull the woman over following a hit-skip accident
near St. Ann's Hospital, at about 8 p.m., but officers could not stop
the vehicle. Westerville police then spotted the car and began a
pursuit with Columbus police. The car eventually got onto Polaris
Parkway. The car, which did not have a license plate, reportedly eluded
Columbus officers numerous times by cutting across the median and even
went in the wrong direction against the flow of traffic on both I-71
and I-270. The driver, Lashon Anderson (pictured, left), eventually
crashed her car into a ditch off I-71, Anderson reported. Her vehicle
then rolled back onto the highway and possibly moved toward Officers
Joseph Fihe and Robert Reffitt, which might have led them to shoot the
woman, NBC 4 reported. Lashon Anderson, 38, was transported to
Riverside Methodist Hospital and was in stable condition. [more]
