Native American Vote Propels Herseth into Congress
South Dakota Indian voters helped elect Democrat Stephanie Herseth to the House of Representatives Tuesday despite a low voter turnout.Herseth defeated Republican Larry Diedrich by acount of 51 percent, 132,377 votes, to 49 percent, 129,396 votes, andwill serve out the remaining seven months of Bill Janklow's term.
