A Suffolk judge declared Laurence Adams ``presumed innocent'' yesterday after prosecutors dropped murder charges 30 years after he was ordered to die in the electric chair over the beating death of an MBTA worker. ``A bell has been unrung,'' Suffolk Superior Court Judge Christopher J. Muse said while acknowledging the familiar scene at the courthouse where nine black men since 1997 have been released after findings of wrongful convictions. [more]
