Activists Urge Muhammad Ali To Not Throw First Pitch at All Star Game

  • Groups cite Quanell X's treatment and "a history of disrespect shown to people of color by the city of Houston."

"We are calling upon the people's champ not to throw out the first pitch tomorrow at the baseball game," said Minister Robert Muhammad, with the Nation of Islam. Their primary concern is the treatment of Quanell X, who was recently charged with evading arrest after attempting to negotiate the surrender of police shooting suspect Derrick Forney, 24. "What's happening to Quanell X is an attempt to railroad in a modern-day lynching. If there is no justice, there will be no peace in this city," . [more] Pictured above: Quanell X.
