Anti-Bush ads aim to rouse Black voters

Tymeka Cropper and Kenneth Tann of Wilmington said they don't need to hear the latest ad campaign from a group of President Bush's critics to know its message should play well with its target audience - black voters like them. The ads, created by the liberal Media Fund, accuse Bush of ignoring the black community's needs and trying to discourage black people from voting in November. The ads say Bush hasn't improved education for black children or job prospects for black workers. Democrats have claimed that Republicans are working to suppress the black vote to help Bush win. They point to radio and print ads by a Washington-based group called People of Color United. The ads, funded largely by Republicans, criticized Kerry as a "wishy-washy, rich, white politician" and his African-born wife Teresa Heinz Kerry as "elitist, rich and white." [more ]
