Fields Making Moves to Run for NYC Mayor

Manhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields has quietly made moves in recent weeks as she looks toward a possible run for mayor. A Manhattan source familiar with her operation who requested anonymity said Fields recently hired a campaign manager and reshuffled her staff to better highlight her accomplishments in office as she looks to increase her citywide profile. Fields declined to comment about her internal office operations but confirmed she was exploring a possible run for mayor and said she would make a decision later this year. "I have hired a fund-raiser, and I am very interested," Fields said yesterday. "I am actively engaged in the process, which includes fund-raising and meeting with a number of people throughout the city to discuss issues and concerns." [more ]
