A recent Soulstrut thread had me revisiting the first two Coup albums (an all too common occurance).  And I genuinely feel the both ( Kill My Landlord and Genocide & Juice ) are perhaps one of the finest representations of what hip hop can and should be - political, humourous, uncompromising, intelligent, revolutionary, gangster, lyrical (in the sense of storytelling and word play) all matched with top tier, funky production and turntablism.
