Police: Middle Eastern Men Claiming that they were set on Fire are Probably Lying
Police believe two men who said they were badly burned in a racially-motivated attack may have set the fire themselves, Local 4 reported. The men, both Arabic, told police they went to Jackson, Mich., for a night out when they were attacked by two other men. "They said that somebody threw a flammable liquid on them and ignited the liquid, causing the burns to their body," said Thomas Finco, director of the Blackman Public Safety Department. The men claimed their attackers made a comment about their ethnicity before setting them on fire. Public safety officer Brian Lanham was patrolling an area in Jackson when he came across the two badly burned men inside their car, Local 4 reported. "When both of them got out of the car, both the driver and passenger were burned from head to toe," said Lanham. Investigators now believe the men may have been injured while setting fire to a building about 40 miles away in Coldwater, Mich. [more ] and [more ]
