Florida Officials say touchscreen voting machines performed well in Primary

The touchscreen voting machines in Sarasota and Charlotte counties performed without any major problems, elections officials said Tuesday. Critics have been warning for months that the machines can't be trusted to record votes accurately because they don't have a paper backup for each vote to assure the computer registered them properly. Sarasota and Charlotte are among 15 counties in Florida that use touchscreen voting. Despite the criticism and scrutiny, supervisors of elections have steadfastly stood by the iVotronic voting machines. [more ]
