Marine on Cocaine in Deadly Shooting

Police say the Marine who killed one police officer and wounded another in a shootout in Stanislaus County was a gang member. Investigators also say Lance Corporal Andres Raya was on cocaine when he fired on police outside a liquor store in the town of Ceres. Detectives are discounting a theory that Raya started the shootout because he did not want to return to Iraq, saying that Raya was not scheduled to be re-deployed and did not see any combat on his previous service. Raya's family denies that he was in a gang and insists that his seven months in Iraq changed him. [more]
