Police Probe Allegation Against Millionare Bill Cosby

A female acquaintance of comedian Bill Cosby (news) has made an allegation against him that has prompted a police investigation in Pennsylvania, the entertainer's attorney said Thursday.  Attorney Walter Phillips said he spoke Thursday with authorities in Pennsylvania who told him they have begun an investigation. He would not discuss the specifics of the allegation — which he called "utterly preposterous" — but said it amounts to, at the most, "inappropriate touching." No charges have been brought against Cosby. Phillips said the accuser, who lives in Canada, knows Cosby and the alleged incident in question happened about a year ago.  Cosby, 67, who has been touring the country speaking on issues affecting the Black community. Cosby denies the allegations. “The allegation as I understand it, is utterly preposterous and bizarre, coming one year after it was supposed to take place,” Cosby’s attorney Walter Phillips Jr. told the Philly.com. The woman reported the incident to authorities in Canada, where she now lives, according to Philly.com. The woman, who told police her memories of that night were not too clear, said that she and Cosby went to dinner in Philadelphia in January 2004. She then alleges that Cosby returned with her to her room where she complained of stress, and he gave her pills. The woman said she remembers being touched on her breast and genitals and woke up at 4 a.m. to find her clothes unkempt and Cosby gone.. Cosby postponed a town hall meeting in Cleveland on Thursday and has postponed three upcoming shows in Florida, his publicist David Brokaw said.
