Puerto Rico Lawmaker Tests Positive for Cocaine During Mandatory Testing
/From [HERE] and [MORE] Puerto Rico’s House Speaker, Jenniffer Gonzalez, decided at the beginning of the year that all state legislators should submit to mandatory drug testing and much to everyone’s embarrassment the House Majority Whip, Rolando Crespo tested positive.
Crespo did not dispute the results but categorized the incident as isolated. “I accept that I failed. I am human and I ask the citizens of Puerto Rico for forgiveness,” he stated. Crespo has since stepped down as Majority Whip but remains as president of the Rules and Calendar Committee. He has been in office for seven years.
As a result of the positive cocaine indication the Puerto Rican House ethics committee will have to look into the matter. Governor Luis Fortuno has asked that he resign instead of submitting his fate to the ethics committee and putting the citizens of Puerto through this.
